All-inclusive Communication Platform
italiana petroli, now a division of Gruppo api, is one of the leading Italian oil companies. The collaboration with InsideOut10 was born in 2015, when the company was owned by Total and was called TotalErg S.p.A.. The aim of the partnership was to extend the services that the Company could offer to its managers (operating in over 3.000 oil stations) through the development of a video streaming platform (Web TV) designed for internal communications and staff training.
The main focus of the project was to remodel and digitalize the sales network in a moment of unprecedented transformation for the oil market, in which it had become increasingly necessary for operators to adopt result-based solutions (such as digital learning, oil station automation, digital assistants) and alternative business models to optimize costs and maximize efficiency and productivity. Easing the central communications to the outlying managers (making it faster and more effective), allowing the redistribution of the sales network staff in order to save time and burdensome costs and developing initiatives to increase productivity using a digital channel: these were our work goals in the development of solution suitable for the customer needs.
We developed a platform with several integrated services, tailored to customer needs and enhanced by professional support for operational management. The aim was to enhance internal communication towards the peripheral managers through personalized messages, notifications and video content, as well as reduce sales network costs and increase performances. The project included: a streaming platform (Helixware Media Delivery), the middleware (Helixware Cloud) for service and report management, a customized and front-end rich in features and compatible with computers, tablets and smartphones, and related support services.
We have designed a cloud software solution based on the SaaS model, including: the management and publication of multi-device and multi-bitrate streaming both on-demand and live, the transcoding of audio and video content to support different formats and bitrate, the creation of the Web TV front-end, the creation of a real-time chat, a mailing-list service combined with the platform and capable of customizing streaming content based on user profiling (dividing them into Manager TV and Agent TV), a web-based support community for content profiling. Finally, the service provides a report on individual accesses for the analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the instrument.
In 2018, with TotalErg’s transition to Italiana Petroli, we also carried out a rebranding action to replace all textual instances, graphics, logos and TotalErg web domains on the Manager TV, Agent TV and other digital media.
italiana petroli can now manage a Web TV that makes it easy to communicate with all operators. The digital platform has allowed the Company to significantly reduce the management costs of the sales network, reducing and re-employing the staff and significantly increasing the performance of its network through a faster, targeted and effective communication.
Today each news comes different forms: messages, videos, newsletters, targeted through an internal mailing list system profiled on the role of the operator (TV Manager and TV Agent). The result is the possibility for managers to increase their earning capacity with bonuses and incentives and the transparency of being able to view the station datas and the related incentives in the dashboard of each sale point.
